Quality and format notes
The conversion runs a document engine in your browser: headings, lists, tables and links map to Markdown syntax. Best results come from simply structured documents; heavy layout, text boxes and tracked changes do not translate.
Review the Markdown after converting — complex Word features may be dropped or flattened rather than silently corrupted. The original DOCX never leaves your device.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to images in the document?
Text structure is the focus: image references may appear in the Markdown, but the image files themselves are not exported. Re-add images from the original document as needed.
Which formatting survives?
Headings, bold and italic, lists, tables, links and quotes convert reliably. Columns, text boxes, headers/footers and tracked changes do not — they are omitted rather than garbled.
Is my document uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion engine runs in your browser via WebAssembly. The document is read from disk and processed in memory on your machine.
