Quality and format notes
AMR is a narrowband voice codec from early mobile phones — tiny files with telephone-grade sound. MP3 output plays everywhere without the original recorder software.
AMR cannot exceed its telephone-grade source; conversion is about compatibility, not fidelity. Both AMR-NB and the wider AMR-WB variants decode here.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my recording sound so dated?
AMR narrowband keeps very little audio bandwidth — it was designed to squeeze voice over 2G calls. The conversion preserves it faithfully; it cannot widen what was never captured.
What is AMR-WB?
Wideband AMR, used by newer phones for higher voice quality. Both variants convert; wideband sources sound noticeably clearer in the MP3 result.
Can I convert a whole folder of recordings?
