Quality and format notes
MP3 remains the compatibility champion: car stereos, players, editors and upload forms all accept it. Convert WAV, FLAC, M4A, Opus, AIFF or WMA audio into MP3, extract MP3 audio from MP4, WebM or MOV video, or turn MP3 into WAV for editing.
MP3 is lossy: converting other lossy formats to MP3 stacks compressions. Use the highest reasonable bitrate, and keep lossless originals for future conversions.

Is MP3 still worth using?
For compatibility, yes — nothing else plays everywhere. AAC and Opus are more efficient at the same quality, so use them when you control the playback environment.
What bitrate should I pick?
128 kbps works for speech, 192 kbps and above for music, and 320 kbps for archival-minded portable copies. The workspace reports sizes so you can weigh quality against space.
Can I extract MP3 audio from video?
