Quality and format notes
HEIC is the efficient photo format iPhones have used since iOS 11, and plenty of sites and apps still cannot read it. Pick a conversion to preselect it: JPG for smaller shareable files, PNG for lossless editing and strict upload forms.
A few HEIC variants may not decode — keep the original and re-export from the source device if that happens. Live Photos convert their still image; the attached video clip is a separate file.
Frequently asked questions
HEIC to JPG or PNG for sharing?
JPG — universally accepted and much smaller. PNG suits editing and forms that demand lossless files.
Can other devices read HEIC directly?
Most current platforms can, but older software, web forms and peripherals often cannot. Converting to JPG or PNG removes the doubt.
