Quality and format notes
WebP is a modern image format: smaller than JPG and PNG at similar quality, with transparency support. Convert to WebP to slim websites and storage; convert from WebP for editors and forms that still reject it.
Converting WebP to PNG or JPG cannot recover quality the WebP encoding already discarded, and JPG output loses transparency. Keep WebP masters when storage allows.
Frequently asked questions
Is WebP really smaller than JPG?
Usually, yes — typically 25–35% smaller at comparable quality. Very small or already-optimized images can defy that, so compare the reported sizes rather than assuming.
Do all browsers support WebP?
All current major browsers do. Some older desktop applications, CMS platforms and upload forms do not — which is when converting WebP to PNG or JPG helps.
Can WebP be lossless?
Yes. WebP has a lossless mode; choose the lossless quality setting in the workspace when exact pixels matter, at the cost of larger files.
