Quality and format notes
PNG is the safe, lossless choice for screenshots, line art and images needing transparency. Pick a conversion below to preselect its formats: to WebP or AVIF when web performance matters, to JPG when a form only accepts photos, or into PNG from WebP, JPG, HEIC, SVG or PDF pages.
Lossless PNG files are usually larger than lossy outputs. If a converted PNG must stay small, run it through the image compressor or choose JPG/WebP instead.

Is PNG lossless?
Yes. PNG stores every pixel exactly, which is why it is preferred for screenshots, diagrams and any image that must not degrade — and why files are larger than lossy formats.
When should I not use PNG?
For photographs destined for sharing or the web, JPG or WebP give far smaller files with no visible difference. PNG shines on sharp edges, text and transparency.
