Quality and format notes
This page re-encodes PNG with the workspace's quality settings: lossless mode keeps every pixel exact, while lower settings trade some fidelity for much smaller files. Each file reports its actual before-and-after size.
Re-encoding does not guarantee savings — already-optimized PNGs may barely shrink. Trust the workspace numbers and keep the original when a file refuses to get smaller.
Frequently asked questions
Is the compression lossless?
Your choice: the lossless quality mode keeps pixels identical, while reduced quality settings shrink files further at the cost of some fidelity.
Why won't my PNG get smaller?
It was probably saved by an already-optimized pipeline — there is little redundancy left to remove. The workspace will show barely any change.
Would WebP be smaller still?
Often, yes — but PNG stays the right answer when a form or workflow requires the format. Try the image compressor page to compare formats.
