Quality and format notes
JPG opens literally everywhere; AVIF does not yet. Conversion decodes the AVIF and encodes JPG at a quality you choose. Transparent areas flatten onto white.
Prefer the AVIF to PNG page when transparency or further editing matters; JPG is for sharing and forms that demand it. The workspace reports each result's size change.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to transparent areas?
JPG has no transparency support, so they flatten onto white. Convert to PNG instead when the transparency matters.
Which quality should I pick?
80–90 suits most images. Lower values shrink files further but soften detail; check a sample before batch converting.
Why convert AVIF at all?
For the places that still refuse it: older content management systems, some desktop apps and plenty of upload forms.
