Quality and format notes
JPG compression is quality-driven: re-encoding at a lower setting discards more data and shrinks the file, with artifacts you control. The workspace shows each file's size change so you can decide per image.
Every JPG re-encode compounds artifacts — work from originals when you plan several passes. Around 70–85 suits most photos; go lower only for thumbnails.

How much smaller will my JPGs get?
Commonly 30–60% at moderate quality settings, depending on how the original was saved. The workspace reports the real numbers.
Does compressing lose quality?
Yes — permanently. Inspect fine text and edges at full size before replacing an original with a smaller copy.
Does the resolution change?
No. Compression only changes how aggressively the pixels are encoded; image dimensions stay exactly the same.
