Quality and format notes
ICO files can carry transparency, JPG cannot — your icon keeps a flattened background. For logos that need transparent corners, start from the PNG master instead with the PNG to ICO page.
Square, high-contrast sources stay readable at 16–48 px favicon sizes. Keep the JPG original; the ICO is a generated asset you can regenerate any time.
Frequently asked questions
Why did my background turn white?
JPG has no transparency, so nothing can be preserved — the icon is fully opaque. Use a PNG source when the shape needs transparent edges.
Which sizes does the ICO have?
It is a single-size icon built from your image. Scale to a square before converting for the best small-size rendering.
Can I use it as my favicon?
Yes. Name it favicon.ico and place it at the site root, or link it from your pages.
